Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is coming to Wii U this holiday 2015 Nintendo announced at their E3 2015 Press Conference. This marks the very first Mario sports title to get a Wii U update! It’s about time! I was wondering what happened to the Mario sports franchises & when they’d get a next-gen Wii U makeover! Strangely, this was the only new Wii U game newly announced by Nintendo at E3 2015.

Longtime Mario Sports series developer Camelot, behind the Mario Golf & Mario Tennis franchises, will once again be heading up development of this latest installment.
No word on whether or not Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash will include online-play. Given that this is Nintendo, I wouldn’t be surprised if online play was NOT included.
But Nintendo generally does include online play in this day and age, so let’s hope we can finally challenge our tennis friends via the Internets in a Mario Tennis title. It’s long overdue!
Mario Tennis: Open, released for the 3DS in 2012, was the first handheld Mario Tennis game to include online play, so it stands to reason that Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash for Wii U will also feature online multiplayer as well.
The only characters revealed so far are Mario, Bowser, Peach & Toad, although Nintendo promises that characters new to Mario Tennis will make their debut in this entry.
