Credits: Advanced Guide to Running an Alliance by Jigga

This guide is not an introduction to the alliance system but instead a strategy guide to running an alliance that may contend for the top spot on the server. I will be using terms without explanations however feel free to comment and ask questions. Also note that running a competitive alliance can be quite harsh and there are many difficult decisions to make. Also apologies for the lack of screenshots, please advise if you feel they are needed for a certain section.

Phase 1: The Set Up

Name/Symbol - Try choose a name and a symbol that will attract the kind of people you want in your alliance. As I was starting an alliance with the intention of being the best and attracting the best in the server I chose the name "Masters". Some other notable names in my server are "Soul-Hunters" and "Blood Knights". These alliances do noticeably better than names like "pheonix" or "_clanawsome_".

Language - Make sure you select a language for your alliance that allows you to communicate well with your members. My only language is English so the choice was obvious, however there are many alliances with the language set as "English" but the leader is not fluent so the members end up leaving or the leader can not effectively use his members.

Time - When making your alliance consider whether people from your part of the world will be active to see its creation. The best time to create a high ranking alliance is at the start of the server however in the long run what matters is how you run your alliance, not when it is created.

Phase 2: Recruiting

Searching - Searching for members is a lot easier if you completed phase 1 properly. Most of the time you will just be "accepting" applications, you should accept every application in the beginning. Sometimes you will be required to actively "search" for members using "Kingdom Chat". Do not use "World Chat" for now as you can only recruit members from within your specific Kingdom. Include your Alliance name and ID in your advertisement in Kingdom Chat and refer players to personally message you to avoid using too many "Kingdom Horns".

Boasting - Whilst it may seem a little lame at first. Boasting on World Chat or Kingdom Chat about a significant Arena Win or Alliance Ranking often attracts more experience members and encourages people to leave their alliance in search of a better one.

Almost-Full Trick - This trick involved keeping your alliance full to the brim with members besides 1 or 2 open spots. If your a new alliance this means recruiting 39/40 members. Why you ask? Because people are more likely to apply to an alliance with an open spot than a full one.

Never Reject - At the start of an alliance you want to make sure you do not reject those who apply even if you have no intention of letting them join at first. Say your alliance members are all rank 20 and a rank 13 applies, do not reject him because in a few days he could be rank 21 and you could have an afk member stay rank 20, in which case you swap them.

Experienced and Active Members - Last but not least is the different between experienced and active members. You may have an experienced player, for example the Arena rank 1 player who is a member in your alliance, but if he is not constructing then what use is he? You may wish to use him as a boasting tool to recruit active members who want to be in his alliance. If an active member becomes in-active, replace him. If an experienced member becomes less powerful, ask him to contribute to the guild or kick.

Phase 3: Maintenance and Endgame

Construction - Construction is the key to levelling your alliance. If you have a healthy recruitment protocol then I would suggest looking at the rankings in construction and keep cycling out the lowest ranking contributing members for new active members. Make sure you communicate that this is your tactic with the alliance to motivate them and don't step on too many toes by kicking out friends of alliance members.

Facebook/Messenger - I like to use a facebook group to keep track of my alliance however there are many useful apps and websites that may also work. By creating a group on facebook and getting members to join, you now have a way to communicate more effectively about strategy. You also now can send push notifications to members when you are in need of reinforcing or need help destroying an enemy city. It is also a good idea to run competitions/events to keep members happy and active.

Members - Ideally you want your members to be both a high level and high contributions. When you get to a point where the people applying for your alliance are low level but your members are not contributing enough then it is time to actively search for high level active members. Try looking at the rankings board and direct messaging people that speak your language that are in alliances that aren't as high level or aren't as renowned as your own alliance. Keep in mind that if they are from another kingdom they will need to pay real money to join your alliance. In my alliance "Masters" myself and 1 other member were top 10 in the arena, through messaging the other arena masters and befriending them, we convinced an additional 4 arena lords to transfer kingdoms and join our alliance with the promise of being the best in the server. We now have 6/10 of the top arena players in our alliance.

Ranking - Click on the "?" sign on the rankings board to gain a better understanding of the alliance ranking system. If you have a facebook group and active members it is a lot easier to explain to members the importance of attacking cities and defending your own as well as contribution and mining. Take a look at this strategy against invasions against your alliance: Written by Joshua Acelo By actively maintaining and communicating, your alliance should be able to gather resources and invade other alliances strongholds freely.

End-Note

Please appreciate the difficulty of being an alliance leader, there is a lot of effort and coordination required. I am aware some of these strategies appear to be quite ruthless but from a competitive point of view it is often what is required.

Thankyou for reading this lengthy guide, your feedback is always highly appreciated
