English is not my prior language.

The top ten leaderboard phrase refers to my KD not overall score.

This is my first ever reddit post so please have mercy on me.

Just to briefly inform you and introduce myself. I'm a beta and day one player of destiny and love to play pvp just as pve. I came across many guardians struggling and even cheating on trials and beeing generally depressed with ToO. So I thought about giving some generall tactical crucible tips. This thread is about surviving as long as possible and at the same time having the most possible kills. So basically about having a K/D ratio as good as possible, which is important in my opinion.

Now you may ask yourself: whoa, what does this random reddit-noob know about playing good in the crucible? Well i am #10 on the world leaderboards with a 4.56 K/D ratio ( PSN: POWVRANGER, check out if you like ). I have also achieved numerous flawless trials runs with my clan.

Leaderboards can be checked out at destinytracker.com

Sooo let's get started guardian. There is a lot to learn, the crucible is no place for mercy after all.

1-Hud:
Knowing your hud (heads up display) is in my opinion the most important. I'm basically talking about the radar. Be aware of your radar at ALL times. Even one second of unawareness could mean your death, which get's you a step closer to loosing. So if you are not used to handle the radar from pve you should get the hang of it soon, it is especially important in ToO.

Be aware of your super. Be sure if it's charged or still needs some time to get ready. Situations can get sticky and having your super up and running can be quite helpfull, and then not having can be annoying.

Be sure to keep a look at the left downside of your screen. Knowing when someone uses which weapon or if heavy comes or when a warlock used self rez can easily safe your life.

2-your class:
Be sure to use the right class for you. Playstyles may vary depending on if you play pve or pvp. I for example have all classes outmaxed but play as a full time titan in pve but love to use the warlock in pvp. So you should maybe overthink your used class in pvp. Just get into the crucible and use every class at least once.

The hunter is for example extremly usefull because of his active camo which will cause him to not appear on the other team's radar. Very usefull in ToO.

Warlocks and hunters have the blink which is the best way to cross the map fast and unhittable. If used correctly blink can save a teams win.

You are sure about your class yet? Well then please check out my tips for each class below:

Titan striker: think about using the helm of inmost light compared with unstoppable, this will grant you the ability to strike from where ever whilst beeink very hard to kill.

Be carefull with your shoulder charge, it may be a powerfull tool in usual pve but in ToO rushing can be punished very quickly and then trying to use a shoulder charge could easily mean your death.

Overthink your choice of grenade. I know that the most players roll with the lightning grenade which is undeniable the strongest. But think about using the flashbang, which can come in very very handy during ToO.

Defender: be sure to use the helm of saint 14. That said be also sure to not equip weapons of light. Because blessing and armor can easily safe your life. Weapons of light is totally useless when someone rushes your bubble using a shotgun. I have honestly not much more to say about defender titans. Just be carefull when seeing a golden gun or anything that looks like a super, because every other super can crush a bubble.

Warlock voidwalker: Equip the blink. As easy as that. Can't use it? Well get to know it.

Try to use the nothing manacles as your exotic, those are especially powerfull im combination with bloom. Don't worry about your beloved obsidian mind in crucible this thing is good in pve but almost useless in pvp.

On the nova bomb side i recommend to overthink your choice once again. Just jump into the crucible and try every variation out.

Be sure to use Annihalate. This will grant greater explosions for grenades and supers. Every other perk in that lane is just useless so feel free to just equip that.

Sunsinger: be sure to use the firebolt in combination with viking funeral and touch of flame. You will be stunned by how much kills you get by just throwing out some grenades.

I know that a lot of people roll with self ressurect instead of radiant skin which grants an armor boost. I can totally understand that because a self fesurrecting warlock can also cause some trouble in ToO. But in normal pve i recommend radiant skin more because a self rez will just get you killed very fast due to the lack of armor that radiant skin grants.

Last but not least for the sunsinger i recommend the flame shield. Because, well it's a shield which expands your life.

Hunter bladedancer: be sure to use khepris sting in combination with hungering blade. This combination provides imvisibility just as getting back health everytime your arcblade kills something. Very effective in ToO.

Just as the warlock voidwalker you should use blink here. Same reasons. Just be aware of the fact that using blink will destroy your active camo.

Be sure to use vanish. Because there is nothing more dangerous then an invisible blade dancer that does not show up on the radar. Especially during trials.

Now you should also use the shadowjack perk, because more camo for you means more death for the enemy.

Gunslinger: Well i wanna be honest here. I don't ever use the gunslinger because bladedancer is so much better in my opinion. But i still have 2 hints.

Use acolyphage symbiont for a 4th shot. Use the tripmine ( it's op as hell ). But don't blow youself up ok? Because we've all been there.

That's it for the classes. Keep in mind that these were just some hints on how to use your class. Feel free to try it out.

3-weaponry and map:
use a weapon advantageous for the map.

There are some go to weapons in destiny. We all know them. But make sure that the weapon you wield fits to the map you play on. I am not talkimg about shotguns or sniper rifles because those two can come in handy on nearly every map you play on, this is a question of playstyle.

I'm talking about primaries.

Hand cannons: Mid range ( depending on which you use it can extend to long or go down to short range )

Scout rifles: Mid to long range

Auto Rifles: Close range ( honestly the only range this class is still effective on )

Pulse rifles: More or less every range

Make sure to have a weapon of each type ready to switch to it.

Be also sure to use the right exotic. A primary exotic is always nice but do not underestimate a truth in the heavy or a queenbreakers bow in the special weapon slot.

Keep that thing oiled quardian.

4-your team:
Make sure to always keep an eye on your teammates positions. You can easily get lost behind enemy lines when spawns turn. So make sure you keep an eye out for them. Especially in ToO. There is nothing more annoying then a team mate dying across the whole map impossible to be revived.

Keep your team together. Be the tactical voice your team needs.

Also be sure to stay in contact with them. Report everything your radar detects. Every red mark on it is a possible death. These things are especially important in ToO.

5-Tactics, staying alive:
Play carefull. This is the most important advice i can give you. Overthink all your actions. Is what i do usefull for my team? Can i suceed? What do i do if i don't? What will i do next? These questions need to go through your brain almost instantly. I do not expect you to think like that. But if you want to be good at pvp or see the fabled lighthouse you need to develope such thinking patterns. This builds up over time the more you play.

You also have to get a feeling about what your enemy is doing or trying to do. seeing what he does even before he knows. And also knowing if you are able to counter that action or if you need to escape and find another way of beating him. Knowing when to step back from a fight is also very important.

You don't think you can win this encounter? Turn around, run, find a new position, let him come to you, GET REKT NOOB. - just a brief example.

2 enemies ahead of you? Find a good position to snipe one of them, pull out scout rifle, outgun the next. These are only some examples on how to react to sticky situations.

Make the environment do the work. Choose the places you like to fight on.

Be also sure to not waste your supers. I personally like to save them up for sticky situations to save my life. Countering one super with another one is also very clever. Just be sure you stand a chance.

Fist of havoc on bladedancer -> works

Pull out arblade against nova bomb -> meh

6-heavy ammo:
first things first. WAIT FOR YOUR TEAM! Opening heavy ammo with 6 players is 6 times as effective as opening it alone.

If you like to use machine guns be sure to take it easy after the heavy dropped. The enemy team is most likely to have rocket launchers which win against lmg's almost 100% of the time. Don't want to loose heavy? Keep it cool.

Be sure to keep a look on your radar whilst waiting for heavy ammo. Six people standing tight together is a perfect target for varoius supers. Standing beside the heavy waiting for it to drop and having a red mark on your radar coming closer and closer? Get the hell out of there.

7-Battlefield noises:
always listen to the sound sof the battlefield. You hear something that sounds like a golden gun? Take a step back and run. Hear a bladedancer? Run for your life. Hear a bubble beeing lifted around the corner? Well better be carefull.

8-detecting supers:
Warlock is hovering above you and doesn't shoot back? Well get prepared for a nova bomb. Titan is running at you and doesn't stop? You're about to get smashed.

Make sure to get an eye for things like that. And be able to counter those actions as long as you're still able to.

So these were all the hints i could think of. Now proof your worth guardian. Go in there and remember my words.

Edit: if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks for the feedback, i will try to post another guide when i come up with new tactics hints etc. maybe this one will get some edits too.

I DID NOT CREATE THIS POST TO BRAG ABOUT MY STATS, I CREATED IT TO HELP STRUGGLING PEOPLE. IF YOU ARE JUST HERE TO BE THE 100th TO TELL ME HOW I'M NOT AS GOOD AS I'M STATING THEN PLEASE DON'T ANNOY ME. I just want to help that's all.
