Credits: Ultimate Sunsinger guide for Trials of Osiris by Biggus_TM
After coming back from a 5 month break after the dissapointment of CE's DLC I have found a new love in the form of Sunsinger PvP. I previously played Voidwalker where I maintained a 1.5+ k/d in 6v6 modes and a 1.9-2.5 k/d in 3v3 modes. I am currently sitting at a 89% win/loss ratio with 3 of my losses being Ddos or lagging out. Proof!.
I am here to write what I have found to be the best strategy as a sunsinger in ToO. Now I will warn you now this guide is not here to get you a high k/d it is for you to help your team win by playing extremely aggressive when the time is right and when it is not.
Lets go with the set up of weapons and armor combinations.
Weapons
Primary- Thorn yes it might be seen as over used but this is hands down the best mainhand crucible weapons for 3s. You can substitute it for The Last Word or Hawkmoon but if that is the case you will be running with one not two grenades which I will get to later.
Special Weapon- This one is up to you Sniper or Shotgun I personally prefer to snipe as I am very good at it so I go with LDR 5001. While it doesn't have the best roles on it I love the low zoom scope and slow fire rate to set up shots and not blindly fire. For shotguns I go with the new Matador 64 with all range perks, while not as good as Felwinters lie you can get very long distant kills.
Heavy Weapon-This is where I switch my weapon set up to have Truth or Gjallahorn on my bar and either Fatebringer or Jewel of Osiris in my Primary slot for the round.
Armor
Quick note I do armor switches for every round which can be seen as either pro or cheap you choose for yourself.
Helm- The Ram use this every round the defense is amazing on it I have seen golden gun shots tanked/ Hood of Exile I use this when switching off the ram for the exotic space when switching items also used on rounds that I have my super up.
Arms Gloves of the Exile with the handcannon reload speed increased pretty obvious why.
Chest I have three that I switch between at the start of the round I switch to Voidfang Vestments so I always have my grenade energy refilled. Once I spawn in I either switch to Robe of Exile if using the ram for the round or Purifier Robes if I have super up for the round.
Leg Armor Anything that has carry more ammo for Heavy Weapons does not matter what.
Now onto the abilities
Grenade Firebolt Grenade-while Fusion are one shot kills these things can hit all 3 enemies and take their shields down in one hit. You will have two of these so extremely powerful.
Jump Ability Focused Burst- not much to this other then it helps you get into sniping position faster or be more aggressive with a shotty faster.
Super Ability- Fireborn- this is the game changer whether you need to use it defensively or offensively it is one of the best supers for ToO if not the best. Coupled with your purifier robes it makes for a deadly combination.
Melee Flame Shield-The shield can save you at certain times its my go to for anything PvP or PvE.
Stat Attribute 1 Arcane Spirit-We are going for tanky here nothing to it.
Special 1 Radiant Will- straight forward longer radiance means more grenades/slaps to the face which means more kills. If not using thorn Viking Funeral this coupled with Touch of Flame makes for a nice long burn.
Stat Atrribute 2 Divine Order- Again going for tanky.
Special 2 Gift of the Sun double nades this is broken. Alternative if not using Thorn is Touch of Flame it burns your enemies in place of the Thorn burn.
Now that we got all that out of the way I will go through some tips.
I spawn in with my Void Walker Vestments and quickly switch to the Ram if I do not have super. If I do have my super I will put on The Purifier robes.
Practice your grenade throws. Do this in PvE or PvP I do not care which but your grenades are literally your pressure point. Throwing two onto a group of 2-3 will make them all one shot meaning a quick rush and clear by you and one or both teammates leads to an easy win.
Know your melee distance. Warlocks have a nice melee cushion where we can get some ridiculous far off melee kills, learn this range and adjust accordingly.
My number one tip! Play aggressively if you have your super. You have a cushion do not be afraid if you die worst case you have to pop your super and revive best case your teammates easily pick off the distracted enemy team as they are trying to deal with your giant gonads. If you do have to revive wait for one or two to come near you you will blind them then just slap them with a grenade or two thrown in there for added measures.
Try not to waste your super if you don't have to. The communication between you and your teammates is key here. If they can finish off the last of them without you having to res that means you can play aggressive for another round.
Remember when weapon switching on heavy ammo rounds to switch back. Same with armor do not forget to equip Voidfang before each spawn!
Fight on Sunsingers and good luck.
PS-First guide I know it is crudely formatted I am not the best at formatting. I also know that some of the links go to different sites some were better for the certain item then the other.
