Famitsu revealed the latest on the upcoming Final Fantasy XV in the form of an interview to director Hajime Tabata. In the interview, Mr. Tabata shares his experiences from Jump Festa, showcasing the new trailer, participating in development shows, and so much more. He also reveals some of the game’s attributes such as the comeback of towns, summons and combat.
You can see below a brief overview of Mr. Tabata's interview:
The game’s virtual world:
- Standard battles are in the same manner as battles against big enemies. However, bigger fights will be in some exclusive party co-op actions.
- Fishing is just one of the many mini-games. So expect a lot of’em!
- Bahamas is the inspiration for Lestallum.
- As of press time, the ropeway in Lestallum is not ready to be ridden. If there is time to do so, devs will add the ability to ride them.
- The dev team wants players to find the virtual world something they can relate to, in terms of characterization, and not just through graphics.
- You can go shopping or stay in hotels in towns.
Summons and Battle System:
- In order to use the Summon Beasts, players will have to fight them.
- Only Noctis can summon the Summon Beasts. They symbolize the power of the stars.
- When in combat, sets of combo can be started by holding down a button. Coordinated movew with other party members can be enabled by timed button presses.
- For expert players, match the timing of enemy strikes in order to parry with them.
- MP is not consumed by Magic. And neither does the system that is similar to FF8’s Draw system.
- Special actions, such as dodging and warping, consumes MP.
- One main weapon can be accompanied with several others, which are equipped, at one time. The main weapon, with corresponding ability, can also be switched when in combat.
- Your choice of weapon used among the equipped ones will automatically determine combos.
- A weapon’s given category and its abilities usually go hand-in-hand. But, some weapons have no abilities at all. This is similar to a game that Tabata worked on in the past, the Captain Tsubasa 5 game.
- Hack-and-slash aspects could be potentially added to rare weapons that are taken from dungeons and other sketchy areas.
- A fully featured battle system from the demo is being planned.
