Here are some of great farming bases on Clash of Clans to protect your Dark Elixir. These bases currently have the 4 mortars features which was given to us by the developer last Halloween. Feast your eyes on these base layouts!
Note: The base layout you'll see below are utmost town hall level 9.
Sharon's Anti Hogs Farming Base

4th Mortar:
(place it outside the walls of the Gold Storage to conserve the ring)
Pros: Excellent DE Storage protection with Teslas and Xbows surrounding it. Core defenses are protected by high HP storages, excellent for keeping Hog Riders out. Great funneling system, nice double giant bomb placements. Centralized Clan Castle is hard to lure.
Cons: Top Mortar and Wizard Towers on left and right side are too exposed. Not very effective against Balloonion and Mass Dragons, Air Defenses too exposed on left and right side.
Royal River

Pros: DE Storage protected by both Heroes centralized around great defenses (they will distract enemy troops). Great funneling system. Well placed Clan Castle.
Cons: High reliance on both Heroes active at all times on defense. Teslas aren't too well utilized for maximum DE protection from attacks from the left and right sides. Heroes may sometimes lure troops towards the direction of the DE storage.
Arma

Pros: Highly protected DE storage with Teslas and Xbows surrounding it. Well placed Giant Bombs and Spring Traps for funneling Hogs and Giants. Great funneling system. High HP structures circulating around DE storage. Well placed Clan Castle. Great T-junctions.
Cons: Air Defenses are too exposed. Mass Dragons or Balloonion may be a problem. Majority of point defenses are exposed outside of the base, inner part is very weak to tanks. Heroes are easy to lure and dispose of.
MegaFarm

Pros: DE Storage is well confined at the center of the base. Well placed T-junctions. Great funneling. High HP structures surrounding X-bows and DE Storage.
Cons: Clan Castle is easily lurable. Point defenses are placed outside base, so the center is most vulnerable to destruction by tanks. DE Storage is most vulnerable when attack from the top of the base. Giant Bombs are poorly placed, and Hogs can be problematic. Archer Queen is too exposed on defense.
