Best PVE Destroyer Build in Blade and Soul Online

This is a PVE build for Destroyer in Blade and Soul Online. More specifically, it will feature two PVE builds: The General PVE Build and the build meant for World Bosses. In addition, it will show you the different skills of a Destroyer and also, it will give you informations like what rank will the skill be useful in PVE, what can the skill do and skill key bindings so you can easily access it.

Before we proceed to the guide, you must also remember that Destroyer has weak single DPS. In most cases, we rely heavily on animation cancel (ani-cancel) combo with Judgment (LB) and Demolition (RB). The combo has strict timing and demands the destroyer to stand still while casting the combo. But, Destroyer is well-known for the choking/lifting supportive ability, to allow others to deal damage easily without worrying about MP consumption. Which is why it's more viable to make a PVE build than a PvP for this class.

The total natural SP at level 50 cap is 36 points; extra SP can be gained from leveling your Hongmen level, which give 1 SP per level. In this build, the Hongmen is at  Lv7 currently, and thus will be presenting the skill build based on 43 SP.

We think you have enough general info and you are now ready for the guide.

Destroyer General PVE Build

Judgment (LB) Level 4 Rank 1

Demolition (RB) Level 4 Rank 2
These are the primary skills use for the animation cancel combo. The combo requires you to repeated press LB and RB at a strict frequency; if you press RB too fast, the LB animation is cancelled before the MP regen is applied; if you press RB too slow, the animation is prolonged and RB cannot be chained smoothly into LB. With macro / good ping, one can do up to 2 set (LB>RB = 1 set) in 1 sec.

The best way of performing ani-cancel is by holding LB (left mouse click) and press E at a fixed frequency, instead of pressing LB and RB alternately. The downside for this method is that, it is slower than the usual method for performing ani-cancel. The upside is, it is very stable in terms of MP consumption, each set of LB-RB only consumes 5 MP if you do it properly. I normally rely on the sound of the skills to judge when to press E. Tip: Listen to the sound of the skill to know when to press E again. You can check out the video below which shows how ani-cancel works.

Fearless Strike (LB) Level 2 Rank 2
This skill is quite good after Impregnable Shield or when you are choking a target. This skill will allow you to gain HP based on 100% of your damage every hit.

Choke (F) Level 3 Rank 2
Recover 20 MP for each hit from you and your party members.
Increase Crit Rate by 5% for each hit, stackable up to 10 until critical damage occurs and reset.

Tempest (TAB) Level 4 Rank 2

Gain 400% defence while spinning. First damage received is reduced further by 25%. I have change the default key to “R” button.

Tempest (TAB) Escape Level 4 Rank 3

Induce 2 sec stun. This is very useful to recover from abnormal status and stun the boss at the same time. Learning up to lv4 allow you to gain 20 MP upon hit.

Knee Kick (F) Level 1 Rank 1

Recover 30 MP upon crit.

Quake (1) Level 2 Rank 1

Extend the stun duration to 3sec instead of 2sec. This allows you to use the C,X,X combo before you grab the target. The original 2 sec is typically too short; you will likely miss your grab; it is especially useful when you are the lone grabber in the party.

Charge (2) Level 4 Rank 2

Resist abnormal status while charging. Recover 30 MP.

Stomp (3) Level 3 Rank 3

Pick the DPS branch despite the boost for the Rank 2 (defensive branch) as it deals additional damage to knockdown targets, and provide more damage for all other skills. Destroyer lacks DPS, every ounce of damage increase is appreciated.

Fury (E) Level 4 Rank 1

100% chance to deal crit damage, with 5% more crit damage. The 6-sec is your window for burst DPS. Resist all abnormal status but your defence is virtually 0%. However, the skill grants you a small i-frame upon casting.

The Rank 2 defensive branch was introduced during the previous Destroyer boost, but the CD and short duration make it impractical. Not to mention, destroyer need DPS, not tanking ability. Note: Key-bindit back to the classical “C” (so i still call it C,X,X combo) since E is assigned to Demolition.

Throw Down (Z) Level 2 Rank 2

Induce Internal Injury which reduce the target’s HP recovery by 50%. It is a useful debuff for boss battle with high recovery. You will lose the HP recovery effect from Rank 1 path though, but there are other better ways to recover HP (drinking potion, fearless strike, purple gem :D)

Smash (X) Level 4 Rank 1

Another signature skill for destroyer, allow you to double cast on target which are choked, stunned or weaken, if you deal crit damage. Mostly cast after Fury.

Destruction Wheel (C) Level 4 Rank 1

A skill with long i-frame. Allows you to recover 30 MP upon resisting damage and heal HP equal to 50% of the dmg dealt. The skill is very important in many boss battles since destroyer lacks good i-frame skills. The CD is long though, at 30sec.

Impregnable Shield (V) Level 4 Rank 4

Stun the target for 3sec. With this, destroyer will have up to 4 stun effects; able to double Stun every 18sec or so. This is also especially important for 2nd Stage in Snow Jade Palace, where the blue adds need to be double stunned. The longer 3 sec duration again allows you to use C,X,X combo while you are the lone grabber in the party.

Destroyer Skill Build 2 : World/Faction Boss

Although destroyer’s main purpose in instances is disable and lift bosses, this role is counter-productive when you are fighting for loot during world/faction boss fight. Therefore, under normal circumstance, you should NEVER lift during world/faction boss battle, or else you will probably not get any loot at all.

Well, the problem get worse; destroyer’s DPS is not exactly that high, especially if the target is a mobile one. Furthermore, as a melee class, you will have to evade boss skills and find suitable window to do ani-cancel (provided the boss is stationary). All these are not easy, especially if your ping is not low and your computer spec is not that high. Therefore, the 1st and foremost condition for a destroyer to stand a chance of getting any loot from world boss would be having a decent ping and a good computer to handle the graphic lag during the battle.

The 2nd condition is to observe the number of people engaging in the fight for faction boss. If you see there are more than 15 players waiting to fight the faction boss, you shouldn't participate at all. Either look for another channel or find a timeslot with lesser people, assuming you have average gear like me. If you have ubber gear such as S1 blessed, S2, S3 etc, then please go ahead.

The following build is quite different from my usual PVE build. Use it mostly for world boss since you don’t need to CC (disable) and need additional i-frame skills + HP recovery. Explanation will only be added if it is different from build 1.

Judgment (LB) Level 4 Rank 1

Demolition (RB) Level 4 Rank 2

Fearless Strike (LB) Level 2 Rank 2

Choke (F) Level 2 Rank 2

You can totally remove the SP from Choke; Keep the 2 SP here simply because you have no where else to put them. Sometimes, you do need to lift if the party size is small (less than 8); and you are guaranteed of your loot.

Tempest (TAB) Level 2 Rank 3

This is probably one of the biggest changes for build 2. Instead of the usual 400% defence Tempest, pick the Counter Tempest (rank 3) instead. The reason is, faction bosses attacks are mostly classified under “Ghost Attack” which can only be reduced with “Ghost Defence”.

If you check your stats, you will realize that your default “Ghost Defence” is extremely low (mine is around 4% or so). After you cast tempest with 400% defence, that number is still freaking low. Therefore, feel that it doesn’t even help much at all.

You might want to use the usual Rank 2 for other world bosses without Ghost Attack. You will know if that attack is counted as Ghost Attack, when you sustain very high dmg even under 400%def.

The counter spin actually works like a short duration 0.5sec block. Although the duration is short (it only works for the 1st spin), it still works pretty well against many blockable attacks from faction boss. That being said, you will still need to determine if that attack is blockable in the first place. If it is not blockable, you should use one of your i-frame skills instead.

For the battle against the Thunder Boar, which will appear during the last stage of Drilling Machine Protection event, I will spec Level 3 Rank 1 of Tempest instead. That boar moves around alot; the only way to deal damage to it most of the time, is by spinning along with it. Rank 1 Tempest happens to have the highest damage among the 3 branches. Tempest is the only skill where you will have to frequently respec to match the target  you are fighting.

Tempest Escape (TAB) Level 4 Rank 3

Knee Kick (F) Level 1 Rank 1

Quake (1) Level 3 Rank 3

Quake Rank 3 gives you 1 more i-frame skill to dodge attack from faction bosses. It also heals 20 MP and provided very small HP recovery. The stun effect is lost.

Charge (2) Level 4 Rank 2

Stomp (3) Level 3 Rank 3
My build doesn’t contain any Hongmen Ultimate skill. If you have Stomp Lv5 Rank 2, it is highly recommended to spec that instead. It allows you to resist abnormal status while staying in the fire pit. However, the process of getting the skill is very troublesome. Don't bother to get it since the developer has mentioned that they will change it in the future.

Fury (E) Level 4 Rank 1

Wind Walk (SS) Level 2 Rank 1

Use it often to resist damage or at least get away from the AOE. Level 2 allows you to heal 30 MP after you resist damage.

Smash (X) Level 3 Rank 2

Another major change here, instead of the DPS branch, it is the norm to spec the Hp & Mp healing branch. The CD is 24sec only. It will heal 100 MP in 5sec which allows you to spam 4-5 x of RB which is one of your main dmg mode in faction boss battle.

Destruction Wheel (C) Level 4 Rank 1

Impregnable Shield (V) Level 4 Rank 3

Rank 3 branch is the best defensive branch. The CD is short and it allow you to heal  more HP and grants a higher moving speed, as compared to Rank 1/2.

Gearing & Bopae

Weapon

This guide uses Blessed S1 Lv5 weapon. Refer to more details in weapon choice for early lv50 cap.
This guide opens 5 slots in weapon, with the following gems:
1. Diamond: +Atk
2. Yellow Gem: +Atk + Additional damage when hitting stun/down target
3. Purple Gem: +Leech Damage upon Crit.
4. Red Gem: + Additional damage, random trigger during attack.
5a Green Gem: + Crit (30sec) + Resist abnormal status (3sec) when you evade
5b Blue Gem: + HP Recovery + Next hit Crit when the target evade/block

For more scenario, use Green Gem, but for Snow Jade Palace, switch it for Blue Gem instead.

There is another type of Red Gem with the chance to deal 2 x Crit, but that gem is rare and cannot be sold on AH.

Accessories

Strongly recommend getting a full set of Legendary Accessories and level it up to level 2/3 at least.  Even the shiny prefix ones are stronger than the mainstream accessories. If you can’t afford them, just use mainstream accessories in the mean time, while farming for the gold. Get Ring > Earring / Bracelet first, if you are aiming to boost your DPS.

Bopae

Try to get full set of legendary bopae from the event or bid for it in dungeons whenever it drops. Legendary bopae full set is far superior to any combination of other purple grade bopae.  Craft Critical on 7 parts, with 1 Hit Rate to reach the 2000 Hit Rate mark.

If you can’t get the full set, it is strongly recommended that you get at least 5 parts, 1,5,6,7,8 at least, to get the hit rate bonus. Achieving at least 2000 hit rate (110%) qualify you as a disabler in Snow Jade Palace.  The remaining 2,3,4 Scorpion bopae should come from the Hellgate Nightmare dungeon.

If you want a more defensive build (you won’t need such a high hit rate outside of snow jade palace anyway), you can consider 2,5,6,7,8 Legendary + 1,3,4 Scorpion (from Hellgate Nightmare, not Altar ones). This combination give you higher HP at a reduced hit rate; suitable for general faction/world boss. Nonetheless, full set Legendary is the recommend set due to the bonus 10% crit damage, which is a big boost to your RB spam under Fury.

If you have just reached level 50, and looking for an intermediate set while collecting your Legendary set, you can consider 1,3,4 Scorpion (from Hellgate Nightmare, not Altar ones) + 2,5,6,7,8 Yeti. The combination gives a good balance between HP and crit, suitable for melee character like destroyer. If you are more offensive, just go for full yeti set.
