Apple has released a small bug fix update for iTunes, versioned as iTunes 12.2.1. The release aims to address issues with Apple Music, iTunes Match, and Beats 1 radio, and is recommended for all iTunes 12.2 users who have experienced issues with any of the aforementioned features or services.
The update is available now from the Software Update mechanism of the Mac App Store in OS X, or, for Windows users, you can find the update notification available from within the iTunes application as well. Typically relaunching iTunes will cause the update to be visible, otherwise Mac and Windows users can also download the update directly from Apple at the iTunes website.
Release notes accompanying the download for iTunes 12.2.1 are as follows, specifying some of the problems that are to be resolved with the software update:
This update addresses the following problems when using iTunes Match or Apple Music:
• Fixes an issue for iTunes Match where iTunes incorrectly changed some songs from Matched to Apple Music.
• Provides a way to correct a library problem affecting former iTunes Match subscribers.
• Includes minor bug fixes and improvements for Beats 1.
Incorrectly labeled iTunes Library music caused some confusion and frustration for some iTunes users, as did disappearing libraries and other peculiar bugs.
The download itself is about 226 MB and installs quickly, with no reboot required.
